Miss Dior Cherie L`Eau Review

source
Miss Dior Cherie flew away across Paris tied to a bunch of balloons, and landed softly in the French countryside, amidst orange groves.

L'Eau opens with a strong scent of bitter oranges and sparkling citrus. Very springy and fresh (but not soapy). Has no resemblance to Miss Dior Cherie whatsoever. The orange is not tart or candyish, it's quite bitter, and that's what makes the scent interesting among hundreds of green/citrus fragrances out there.
The magic happens when it has had some time to warm up on the skin. The scent mingles with gardenia and becomes creamy, yet remains sparkling and delicate till the end. Never imagined the heady tropical gardenia could ever smell this cold and refreshing. However, I'm quite disappointed with its lasting power. Three to four hours maximum, and for $85 a bottle, that's just unacceptable.
I'm not a huge fan of citrus scents, but L'Eau is clean and crisp. Perfect for hot summer days. Only wish it lasted a bit longer.

The bottle is adorable. Heavy glass with the same houndstooth etching at the bottom as the original Miss Dior Cheri.
The only difference is that this time the shape is a bit narrower and the bow on the cap is sheer and frosted. Which I think perfectly matches the mint green liquid and the fragrance inside.
L: Miss Dior Cherie L'eau, R: Miss Dior Cherie

Category: Floral
Top Notes: Bitter orange
Heart Notes: Gardenia
Base Notes: Musk
Good For: Spring/summer. Day/casual

The sad news is that Dior is discontinuing this one. It's replaced by ''Miss Dior Cherie Eau Fraiche'' They have similar structure but different notes. The new one contains bergamot, gardenia and patchouli instead of orange, gardenia and musk and looks like this...

With Dior coming up with a Miss Dior Cherie flanker/reformulation every couple of months it all gets a bit confusing. Read an article here .
You can still find a 3.4 oz bottle Miss Dior Cherie L'Eau online for around $85 and up.

  3. @PoojaG: Hi :) I'm not that ,uch into citrus scents myself. But do try this one. It's quite unique.

@Su:I really like it's opening. So bitter. Like oranges with pips, rind and all :) The new one is suppose to be similar. The only difference I read, is in the base notes. This has Musk, while the new one has Patchouli. Do let me know how you like it if you get to try the new one.

  17. One question ~ I am yet to try Miss Dior Cherie,,curious,, but I have heard that it's more of a grown up perfume,,excellent but mature. Do you feel like that or am I misguided?

This new one sounds more fun.. :) citrus n gardenia..awesomeness :D

You have been blogging less na :) Busy Bubbles? :D

Thanks for the good review. :)

  18. @Rikki: Thanks a lot hon, and welcome back!

@Namita:Yes I'm a bad blogger right now :)Actually, I'm at a hill station at the moment and there is wi fi connection problems here, so can't come online much.
Yar it's a long story with Miss dior cherie flankers. Dior has released/re released/reformulated this perfume so many times in the last four or five years that it's insane and very confusing. I hope the description below will help you decide.
MISS DIOR CHERIE:Released in 2005 by Christine Nagel was a huge hit. had notes of strawberries, caramel popcorn etc. (I have reviewed this one, plz click the Dior label on the right side bar. This has been sadly discontinued because apparently Nagel said in a drunken video "I love Hitler" So he was sacked from the house of dior for being anti semetic and his perfume discontinued.
MISS DIOR CHERIE L' Eau (reviewed above)This has no resemblance to the above miss dior cherie. It's a frst citrus for summers. This too has been discontinued :( but u can still find it online.
MISS DIOR CHERIE:This was released in 2011 after the original was discontinued.I think this is the one you are talking about when you say it smells mature and all. The notes are very different from the original and is made by a new perfumer. They have kept the name and the falcon of the first one which has confused and angered a lot of dior fans.
Miss DIOR CHERIE eau fraiche: it's the latest one for summers. I haven't sniffed this as yet so can't really recommend.
I would say, either get the one that is reviewed above or see if you can get hold of a bottle of the 2005 version. Hope this helps buttercup :)
